April Showers (Don't Always) Bring May Flowers!
March 20 brought us the first day of Spring in the United States. Here
in Chicago the weather was divine! But guess what? On the other side of the
world Australians are now entering into their autumn season. Talk about a change
in the weather!
No matter where you are located in the world, you can enjoy 'Spring Fever'
this month with the Creativity Portal. We've added new spring craft pages chock
full of project ideas and activities, plus our very own Tissue Paper Flower
tutorial. You'll find links to all of our new spring features and more below.
Aspire in April!

WHAT'S NEW @ THE CP
People
Who Inspire Us
The Creativity Portal has crossed paths with a number of talented individuals
involved in writing, art, and other creative pursuits. This page features some
of the gracious people who have allowed us to share their work and experiences
with our readers-and a few others whom we find personally inspiring.
The latest addition to our list is Christen
Douglass, a self-taught artist who responded to the interview questions
from last month's newsletter. Christen is the owner of Black Water Siren
Studio (www.BlackWaterSiren.com), and is a self-taught artist, jewelry maker,
and photographer.
Try it! Tutorials — Collage Techniques, Part 2
Last month we featured three collage techniques: magazine collage, assemblage,
and mixed media collage. This month we've added part two of the collage series
that includes book cover collage, experimental textures, and collage combinations.
In addition, we've included a gallery of nine collage pieces we've worked on
for this series over the last few months. Adventure further into collage art!
How
to Make Beautiful Spring Tissue Paper Flowers
There are many ways to make tissue paper flowers-from the simple accordion
fold and pull style, to more elaborate layered cut and crinkle flowers. Here
we'll show you how to make a layered tissue paper flower design with leaves
that will make a lovely centerpiece. Plus, visit other sites offering tissue
paper flower making tutorials.
Candle Making & Accessory Projects
We're pleased to feature three new candle projects submitted to us by Michelle
Gauthier of Expressive Candles (www.ExpressiveCandles.com). They offer hand
poured scented candles and shaped tarts. Michelle also has written other
candle decorating articles, tips and candlescaping articles.
