"It’s all about practicing in the middle. I used to think the middle was really boring. I used to be an extreme person, ups and downs. Now I’m thrilled to say I spend most of my time in the middle, and I‘m loving it."An Interview with SARK

A SARK-Sational Inner-view

Let me revel in a delightful few minutes of pure joy as I rest here on this tremendous milestone accomplishment for the Creativity Portal Web site and for a very courageous interviewer that I'm honored to know.

I'm extremely pleased to present to the world a recorded interview with Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy — known to her fans worldwide as SARK (www.PlanetSark.com) — one of the most luminous creativity icons of our generation. More Journal »

Introducing Creative Writer Ryan Edel
Ryan Edel is a creative writer and part-time bartender living Raleigh, NC. He began writing stories in high school, when he was convinced that he would write the next great King Arthur story. Since then, he has branched out to literary stories and science fiction, though he has found romance to be as dangerous on paper as it is in life.

Ryan's first article on the Creativity Portal is Journal Your Inner Character, a reflection on the value of using journal writing to help with fiction writing. Learn more about Ryan's Web site, 1-2-Writing Workshops Online, which offers workshops and resources to help writers make the most of their fiction. Welcome, Ryan!

An Easter Gift for Newsletter Subscribers from Belle Keeney
After the last Creativity Portal newsletter went out, I received a thoughtful note from Belle Keeney of bellesprintables.com, who gave me permission to share this with you:

"... after reading your newsletter today I realized that I've been reading it and enjoying it for quite awhile and for some reason I thought it might be nice if I send along a little gift for your subscribers. It's a little Easter printable set. Just print at 'fit to page', cut and assemble. There's no strings attached, just wanted to do it to show appreciation for your newsletter."

You may remember Belle from her inspiring success story. She creates all kinds of fun printables as digital downloads on her Web site and I think it's just fantastic that she's generously made her Easter Gift set available for you to enjoy. More about Belle's printable gift is highlighted in the "Creativity Clips" section of this newsletter. Thank you, Belle!

Nothing Kills Creativity Faster than Criticism: Enter the Inner Critic

You know the Inner Critic is at work when you look at the clock and discover you’ve spent an hour on a single paragraph, worse a single sentence, and the computer screen is mostly blank or the page is so scribbled on and crossed out and torn from erasing, you can’t read it anyway.

Journal Your Inner Character

When you reach a point in your fiction writing that you cannot write more, a moment when you don’t know what your protagonist should do or think, it might be time for a journal entry.
