Gloria-Jean Browne : Market Your Own Jewelry Making Kits

Market Your Own Jewelry Making Kits

By Gloria-Jean Browne

Profit from your specialized know-how selling jewelry making kits, beading patterns and teaching workshops.

Crafts has and always will be one of the most popular leisure activities for people both young and old, male and female, rich and poor.

It doesn't matter what ethnic background you are from or what you do for a living, creating and making something with your hands is one of the most gratifying feelings.

Whether people make things for themselves, their homes or to give as gifts, just being able to say that they made it themselves, with their own hands gives them a feeling of not only satisfaction but also a feeling that they do have some creativity in them.

There are many people who would love to make their own bead jewelry project but feel that they do not have the talent nor creative skills to design and make them on their own.

Many others feel that they do not have the time to take courses in learning how. Hobbyists that do dabble in crafts are always looking for new and interesting bead projects to spend their leisure hours on.

Designing and producing your own jewelry making kits, beading patterns, how-to booklets, and teaching workshops can not only be a profitable venue for your home based jewelry business but also fills an important need in giving hobbyists and beginner crafters a chance to try and challenge their creative talents.

Kits and patterns can be profitable especially if your design or technique is very time consuming or laborious in producing the final product, such as in bead weaving. In pricing a jewelry piece the labor costs are usually the largest percentage of the costs in creating it.

In producing jewelry making kits and beading patterns your only labor cost will be in putting them together. Unless of course you cut out the material pieces for the project in the kits, but you will save on finishing costs.

With the time saved on labor by producing beading kits, you can make up many kits in the time it would take you to make the finished product. Which, if you have an attractive design or an appealing project, could be much more profitable than selling the finished project itself.

Profiting from your specialized jewelry know-how can be a lucrative addition to your home jewelry business. You may even find yourself doing this full-time and then selling your finished work as a sideline. •
