Soap Making is a Snap! How to Make Checkerboard Soap

IT'S AS EASY AS 1, 2, 3

Soap making is fun and incredibly easy to do. It consists of three basic steps. Easy to follow step-by-step instructions in every kit. Our Essentials, Natural and Cool kids products all include instructions as well as helpful tips and ideas for enhancing your soap making experience.

Caution: Melted soap is hot. Adult supervision is required when children are making soap.

Cut soap into chunks.

1) Cut soap into 1-inch chunks, along scored lines. Place in microwave-safe measuring cup or in double boiler.

Melt soap.

2) Heat in microwave for 40 seconds; then in 10 second intervals until soap is completely melted.

Caution: Melted soap is hot!

Add color.

3) Add a few drops of color.

Stir.

4) Stir.

Pour into mold.

5) Pour into mold and allow soap to cool for approximately 30 min. (larger bars release easier if left longer). Remove from mold by applying gentle but firm pressure with thumbs to release from mold.

ADVANCED TECHNIQUE: KEEP GOING TO MAKE CHECKERBOARD SOAP!

Cut the soap bar.

6) Cut the soap bar you just made into cubes and place into mold.

Repeat steps 1-4.

7) Repeat steps 1 through 4 and pour into mold.

Caution: Melted soap is hot!

Allow soap to cool.

8) Allow soap to cool for approximately 30 min. (larger bars release easier if left longer). Remove from mold by applying gentle but firm pressure with thumbs to release from mold.
