Cynthia Staples : Look Up! To Spring, Inspiration
Words & Images Look Up!Spring's InspirationBy Cynthia Staples Now that winter has given way to spring, I simply say, look up to find some inspiration. In New England, there are finally spring flowers bursting from the ground, like crocuses, snowdrops and snowflakes, too. By all means glance down to capture these lovely ephemeral blooms but, afterwards, don't forget to look up. In the trees, amidst the still-bare branches, is lovely evidence of the past as well as indications of the beauty to be seen in the near future. Colorful creatures find sustenance in last year's fruits. Old nests wait for new inhabitants. Blossoms grow fat, preparing to break open, as soon as that last frost passes. Beyond the trees, view the sky. As the seasons shift so does the light and how it falls to earth, illuminating as well as casting shadows. Whether at sunrise or sunset, in the woods or a city center, pause to scan the heavens. You might be surprised at what you see.
