Easy Diagrams Map Out Your Creative Ideas!

Mind Map (aka mind-mapping, idea map): A diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea.

To help you appreciate the simplicity of creating mind maps to help you organize your ideas around a theme (and how useful they are in the creative process!), we asked artist Violette to illustrate a simple mind map related to the writing of her book Journal Bliss: Creative Prompts to Unleash Your Inner Eccentric. Her mind map below illustrates how she planned out her chapter ideas.

Notice the central idea ("Journal Bliss") in the map middle surrounded by six smaller items linked with arrows: Fanciful Lettering, Funky Envelopes, Image Transfers, Bodacious Borders, Doodling and Faces, and Groovy Backgrounds. See, even writers use mind-mapping to plan out their creative projects!
